VINEYARDS ON THE ROAD OF CÉZANNE
Excursion -Mountain of Sainte-Victoire
In the 17th and 18th centuries, the wines of Sainte Victoire were highly appreciated at the Court of France.
The vineyard, already known in the 19th century under the name of Côtes de Provence was redefined in 1951 with the accession to VDQS “côtes-de-provence” then the accession to AOC by the decree of 24 October 1977. The AOC Côtes de Provence Sainte-Victoire appellation was recognised in 2005 and the soils of Provence are poor and shallow, made up of limestone and clayey sandstone, which has given birth to a quality vineyard providing full-bodied red wines and rosé wines with subtle aromas to drink well chilled.
